Top Spots for your Adventurous Group

The Caribbean may be known as a destination for placid cruisers and beach-loungers, but there’s room here for thrill-seekers as well. Whether you’re looking to hike to pounding waterfalls, zipline through untouched jungle, or snorkel in an aquamarine cenote, the Caribbean will offer you the heart-pounding experience of a lifetime.

Puerto Rico

There’s no shortage of adventure here for travelers looking to get their pulse up. Puerto Rico is almost spoilt for riches—here you can dive among sea turtles, surf some of the best waves the Caribbean has to offer, and get muddy racing through the jungle on a four-wheeler. The magnificent forest of El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, is just waiting to be rediscovered by an intrepid hiker—Hurricane Maria temporarily closed several trails in 2017, giving nature a chance to rest and become even lusher. But we’ve saved the best site for last. The isolated bay of Puerto Mosquito has some very special residents—thousands of tiny bioluminescent microorganisms live in the waters of the bay, sparkling every night. If you’re lucky enough to kayak here, you'll be rewarded with a sea that glitters like the stars.

Jamaica

There’s no slick Caribbean glitz here—instead, Jamaica offers plenty of adventures waiting just off the beaten path. Swim with dolphins, zipline through the jungle, or hike to mountain peaks with pristine views—or why not try all of the above in a combo tour? When you’re done, you can sit back and sip coffee made right in the surrounding forests.

Mexico

Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Mayan ruins, crystal-clear cenotes, and rainforests packed with wildlife—it's all here. Kayak through mangrove forests, snorkel with whale sharks, and view mysterious ancient ruins. The dive sites of Cozumel are world-renowned, while skydiving and mountain biking are sure to entertain. From an ancient ruin hidden deep within the jungle, you might spot a jaguar peering out, the sunlight filtering through the leaves turning its pelt to gold. Best of all, take the plunge into one of the Yucatan’s sparkling cenotes and delight in swimming in turquoise waters deep within a soaring limestone cathedral draped in lush jungle. Whatever adventure you seek, the Yucatan is sure to please.

The Caribbean is no destination just for slouchers—action buffs have plenty to include as well. Happy travels!
